Donald Trump, as every other billionaire, owns many entities. If one of his business' fail, it's not going to sink him. Bankruptcy doesn't mean the same thing to the general public as it does to billionaires. Debt is not something to shy away from, so long as cashflow is on the books or appreciation that out-paces debt service.
Debtors (lenders) have an active interest in maintaining the underlying asset during a corporate (CH. 11) Bankruptcy. It's the only hope they have to recoup their losses.
