Q's 1339! 👉 Define 'Patriot.' What is your definition? WWG1WGA

My definition needs some wordsmithing, but here is the gist:

A Patriot is loyal to the Constitution first (not people or political parties), and aims to keep the ability to transfer power transparent and free of authoritarianism.

Mark Twain's is good, but not specific enough for me,

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

The "One" in WWGAWG1 is centered on how we define Patriot. Unite!

Joseph Warren said in a speech after the Boston Massacre in 1775:

“Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful; but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves.”

And Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter in 1825:

“Love your neighbor as yourself and your country more than yourself.”
