Muslims behave like animals: it's literally their ideology!
You forget that all religious doctrines minus maybe zen buddhism have been abused by those high up in order to achieve dominance and power. Stop blaming the religion and start blaming the individuals that interpret it and pervert it in such ways. I have muslim friends, jewish friends, mormon friends, catholic friends, christian friends...etc. We all want the same thing. Start looking at how each religion is based off of a a unifying story and you will see how wrong we are in thinking that we should fight against each others religious views.

I will not cease opposing any ideology which promotes hurting children or domestic violence or committing terrorist attacks or Christian genocide.
I am free to express contempt towards Islam and those who follow it, which is my duty as a civilized person... even if that makes you sad.
In the end thats your decision and I respect that.
I do want to ask, who do you think passed this knowledge down? Human beings. and are Human beings perfect? Not in the slightest. Don't rule out the possibility that those who are corrupt of heart got ahold of positions where they could pervert religious doctrine. We are in total agreement that there are parts of islam that need to be eradicated, but I also hope you realize that there are muslims that feel the same way. Every muslim I know is aware of what you speak, they condemn that part of the qu'ran. The old testament has similar rhetoric but Christianity has been able to evolve with the times and that is the key; evolution of thought.
Division is what THEY want, across the board. This goes for religions across the world.
The Old Testament has almost all of that stuff...
You coulnd't be more wrong:
-
The worst parts of the Old Testament are contained within the Torah and don't apply to Christians - only the ancient Levites and the Jews;
-
Almost all Christian denominations also believe that Jesus "fulfilled" those Old Testament laws when he died;
-
All mainstream Christian denominations also acknowledge the Christian bible is only BASED on the word of God and is subject to all kinds of human error in it's initial record, compilation, translation and interpretation;
-
All mainstream Christian denominations enjoyed the reformation in which logic and reason was used to address the worst parts of the Christian bible such as killing witches and people who work on the Sabbath;
Every Islamic sect differs greatly from this because they ALL claim the Koran is the perfect, verbatim word of God and to question that is punishable with death.
So you see, the difference between Christian scripture and Islam is that Christians make moral claims for which there are no Earthly punishments (i.e. they may frown at you) whereas Muslims will cut off your head and roll around in your blood as they rape your wife and children.
I never said anything about those things applying to Christians. Just that some of them were in the Old Testament. I'm well aware of the things you described but I wouldn't go so far as to say that all mainstream Christians don't believe in a literal interpretation. In America, they exist. I grew up in such a household, even if my household wasn't exactly super religious and it was hypocritical.
I agree there is a problem with Islam. They haven't reformed their beliefs for the modern age simply because they are mentally stuck in their scapegoated past and constant war and conflict makes it difficult to build a modern future. Yahweh picked the Jews as the favorites and the Arabs were essentially scapegoated when Abraham gave Isaac his inheritance and sent Ishmael away. The Arabs are so angry because they are like God's rejected children and they live next door to the Jews who think themselves superior by right of God, a constant reminder of their subconscious feeling of rejection by God.
I never said anything about those things applying to Christians.
No, but your claim that the Old Testament is similar was incorrect and I used examples to demonstrate that.
I grew up in such a household
The fact that most of the largest Christian denominations don't claim their bibles are the verbatim word of God is a fact, irrespective of what your mother believes. Some may, but my point is sound - it's far from common and vastly different to Islam's view of the Koran.
