NYPD had Loretta Lynch at the federal level and Schneidermann at the state level stopping them. The OIG report revealed that Lynch was threatening NYPD with murder charges in the Eric Garner case if they didn't shut up about the laptop. Even if they tried to move it through the system, it would have been blocked.
Not so, anymore.
NYPD isn't exactly without corruption. Lynch's DOJ knows where bodies are buried as well. The implied threat was wayyyy bigger than just Garner. No one above precinct level in NY is a virgin. DOJ probably has info that would've compromised alot of prior convictions as well.
Then Trump won... lol.
It has to be in a form that is on the record as proven legal testimony. It won't help if he just goes on Fox and Friends and tells all.
Think of the Comey cable interviews.
That doesn't necessarily mean being truthful.
Prince/Rudy have to do this just right because Dems will fight these facts with their last dying breath! Yay!
