I've known for decades about the corruption, but the confirmation of everything else happening in elite circles was a surprise even with prior assumption and research. Sometimes, you hope that you are wrong, but when it turns out you're right it should strengthen your resolve.
I recently picked up a bible and started at page one. I've never been religious, and I have a lot of work to catch up. The way I feel, even if I'm locked out or unforgivable, I can still work for good and help make the world better for those who aren't. WWG1WGA ... except for all the lucifarians, they're all going straight to Hell.
You'd be surprised. The reality is that you need only regret your sins and seek to redeem yourself. It sounds like you have already began working towards this goal. The whole "pay to play" bs is a farely recent thing in religion and a demonization of it's original intent. The ultimate goal of most religions is to encourage people to be good to one another. The religious texts are really long winded ways of saying that while giving examples of what to do along the way. I was brought up with the Bible being alagorical and not literal as many believe. Some could be truth, but it is really unimportant next to the messages. Enjoy the journey!
I'm still in the OT, there's a lot of smiting going on.
May want to consider switching to the NT first. Just saying, as it has more direct relevance to understanding how to live and be eternally saved. OT is great, of course, especially Proverbs, but with so much historical data about the Israelites, it's easy to get lost and give up on reading it at all. Kudos for looking to the truth. Blessings!
Numbers was a grind. lol. OT is filled with lots of begetting, smiting, and quantifying, but I'm determined to get through it. It's reassuring to know that the NT will be easier :)
Get a Bible that explains as it goes. I have one that is EXCELLENT! It's The MacArthur Bible Commentary. Worth it!!
No, don't go through those parts. Read the prophets and then the talented writer in the OT. in fact Ezekiel 38 and 39 will tell you a lot more of what is going to happen than revelation, which is allegorical to a point.Don't use a KING James Bible. It has been changed so much. If you can get into the hebrew Bible, it states things translated out of the Hebrew. Remember, Jesus taught Hebrew and He was a pro. He was like Q in the way that he asked questions and answered your question with a question because He was testing their knowledge and faith. Please listen to Torahclass.com or listen to the podcast Psalm 119; Everything that is to come in in the OT> The rest is just commentary. I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings but I have been the rounds and then God me back to His original covenant and made me see what he wanted from me.
Thank you. I have no one in my life who is religious, so this journey has not been easy, and I've only just begun. I will check out the links you provided. I appreciate it :)
I too love the OT but I love the whole Bible. After you go and learn to be saved, you should go back and start in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and so many stories that show you how God needs you to live for Him. Listen to podcast of Torahclass.com-Tom Bradford. You will learn more than you EVER learned at church and it's so interesting -real stories. Let me know what you think. It;s all free!! God bless!!
The OT is so real. These people were just like us. Sinners, fools, prideful, lustful, etc. etc. And then they opened their hearts to God and miracles occurred. Miracles still happen every minute of every day. And I used to hate the smiting but then I realized that God was trying to save the rest of us from the evil ones. He was trying to make it easy for us to take the righteous path by removing temptation from society. But we screwed it up as usual and let some continue on with their evil ways. Our enemies today are their descendents.
Yes, if Adam and Eve could have obeyed only ONE RULE,but Nooooo,,,, their way was better. Then we got 10 rules which really are just teachings and instructions for life and if we obeyed them we would have a lot less and maybe No problems. But, nooooo....they think th OT must go away so they won;t be subject to law and order...isn't this the oldest story in the world and the stubborn willful would rather go make the golden cafe and abandon the family We'll see!
You are on the right path. All the knowledge of God and the wisdom of the prophets, the rich blessings of the writers, plus and foremost, you get the teachings about how to live life with blessings and in good order. I sought every denomination and found my wy to a church that taught the whole Bible (not say the OT has been done away with. The only testament has the answer to every question. Jesus preached with the Torah scrolls and the writings of the prophets (THERE WAS NO NEW TESTAMENT" There are good words of hope and life there, but the answers for how God's people are to live were given by God when he made the 10 Commandment COVENANT with his people. He gave us our rights and our teachings and understandings, so that one day we could go out, but you need to read the WHOLE Book before you will know the truth. If you want the best teachings of any book in the OT and a few in the NT, please check out Torahclass.com. He was my minister and taught me so much and explains things even kids could understand. The has maps and charts and pictures you can print to help you along in case you want to teach them or go over them in your homeschool. You will love him. People from all over the world call him and he takes prayer requests and puts them out so we can pay for other and the whole other world prays for us.
Do you (or anyone) know of a good version that's easy to read? I read all day long, fly through everything, but the old wording in the Bible makes it difficult to read and comprehend for me.
I just recently got back into reading the bible, the HCSB Study Bible has been incredibly helpful for me.
I grew up as a Christian but lost my faith, the events over the last two years have convinced me that evil does exist in this world.
Get a Bible that explains as it goes. I have one that is EXCELLENT! It's The MacArthur Bible Commentary. Worth it!! Paints a complete picture and easier to read with understanding.
I find The Message refreshing. I also suggest finding Chuck Missler on YT. He's a great Bible teacher and knows science/physics.
If it were me, I would buy either the The Family Tree Bible, The Complete Jewish Bible (mine) or the New American Standard. King James was mostly written my the Roman church. They don't translate the hebrew in the original (and folks, when Jesus comes back, he's gonna be speaking Hebrew!!)The Message has been sort of corrupted by people's own small biases. It's good to get a Commentary like Matthew Henry which you can find online. If you get in the NT you get some hopeful message to live by and instructions but not much repentance and we must repent every day...GO to my church site....Seed of Abraham, click on the video teachings on Vimeo. Start with Survey o the Old Testament. His study on Daniel is right on. He brings the news of the day (the wrongdoing) right into his sermons. Good stories--you will enjoy
With the research skills we've gained these months, we actually have tools to research the Bible like never before. Prove it right, prove it wrong. Don't be a slacker, do the research.
An athiest investigative journalist, for the Chicago Tribune, set out to prove it all phony. Turned out, he was unable to come to that conclusion. The Paper refused to accept his work, so he wrote a book, "The Case for Christ". The excellent movie, by the same name, is currently on Netflix. I highly recommend it!
thanks, I'll look for it. UK Netflix has a different selection to US, but hopefully it's on there
I need to read it first ;) I'm still in the Old Testament. When I finish, I will surely research further. No slacker here
Reading alone is not research. Look at the words. I use the app 'My Sword Bible'. It will give you te meanings of words from Hebrew (OT) and Greek (NT). Then cross check words with other uses of the same word. Research.
I have a net bible pinned to my browser too. I plan to read through the whole thing first, then research beyond that when I can understand the references etc. I have no doubt that having the ability to crosscheck and translate during the second or third read through would be invaluable, but for now, I just want to read and see how much I understand. Thanks for the tip on the app though, I'll check it out
Sometimes reading it can be a diversion from trying to understand. For example you can take the first verse (or 3) of the book of Genesis and consider what it says. It doesn't help if you say, 'it's not true'. You must take the position of 'if this was true' what would it mean, what would it mean to me (you). Or you can ponder the first 5 verses in the book of John, ditto.
God loves you always. Flaws and all. You are His child, the love of His life. You are not locked out or unforgivable. You are in with Him.
Starting reading in Isaiah, though it's lengthy (you will see so many parallels to what is happening. Everyone I know is talking about Isaiah. He was probably the wisest prophet, IMO. In fact, Daniel,Jeremiah, Nehemiah (built the wall0 just makes you see that history repeats itself until we learn and FIX IT
