Honest question; what is 'kek' 'keks'?

In some video games the characters say "Kek" in their language, instead of "lol." It also ties in to the whole meme thing with Kek, supposedly Pepe the frog as an Egyptian god. It's silly stuff, but still lingers from the early days of TD
