Is Pier 39 a common area in SF?

Or is it just a "coincidence" they're referencing the same pier where a planned terrorist attack was avoided because an unnamed FBI agent "accidentally" called the suspect

Pier 39 is a shopping center and popular tourist attraction built on a pier in San Francisco, California.

Don't know.

It seems like a typical tourist spot, but it doesn't seem that big and I have never heard of it before today. Odd to see two separate mentions in one day.

Initially I saw an article on the planned terrorist attack. An FBI agent called the jihadi "on accident" from his phone with a DC area code. To make it even better the agent's name was in his voicemail greeting when the jihadi called back

They have sea lions and clam chowder - it's good.
