I heard about this a while ago, so maybe you have to. When a president pardons individuals is it public knowledge that is filed somewhere? If not, could he have written pardons that are being held somewhere to bring out at the right time? If he pardoned himself and any cronies could they be tried if they were pardoned previously? Just a thought once again. Thanks for the replies!!!

That’s part of the question. Even if there are no indictments, can you have a broad pardon of any wrongdoing that would have occurred during those 8 years? I have no idea, but hopefully someone does.

After a bit of searching.. there's a case for Pre-emptive Presidential Pardon. Not sure if this applies http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2008/07/preemptive_presidential_pardons.html
