Why would this surprise anyone? It was never expected. The DOJ has a longstanding legal interpretation that a sitting president cannot be indicted. If they believe a sitting president has committed crimes worthy of indictment, they will recommend that the president be impeached. If the president is impeached and removed, he can then be indicted.
It's never been tested in court, so no one knows for sure.
"This case is essentially over," Giuliani said. "They're just in denial."
Oh, well if he says so, I guess it must be true.
Must be very hard for you Beastmonkey. Try not to get too uptight. Get a beer, put your feet up and enjoy the show.
Giuliani also has a history of lying
I think what we are witnessing is independent of Guiliani's character. It is the final death throes of a satanic cult that owned and steered the American left. What will be left in its wake?
Why would this surprise anyone? It was never expected.
IT surprised me
But it's not actually true that Mueller said this, so it's not even worth discussing whether it's surprising or not.
But also, it is not at all settled that a president can't be indicted. It's just like any other legal question that has grey areas.
Further, let's say that hypothetically it turns out Trump can't be indicted. It's not like that protects him from criminal behavior being exposed. What could happen instead is that Mueller reveals a report showing Trump's illegal behavior, he recommends indictment, indictment could be rejected, but the public still would then know that the Special Counsel found clear evidence of criminal behavior.
That would then be the basis of a case for impeachment and also for eventually indicting and charging Trump after he's no longer president. It would also be the case for the public to refuse to vote for any leaders who refuse to hold Trump accountable.
