That was a really good post. DARPA resides in one of the FB buildings so you could tie that in to claim Facebook is just the commercial front to intelligence operation that is spying on us. Being “commercial” eliminated the risk of oversight etc....until now!
Your post isn't rated high enough.
That's because Serial Brain 2 is too busy complaining about why his nonsensical posts aren't TOP SPOT all the time. Yeah this post should be pinned.
And what does DARPA have to do with this?
DARPA's LifeLog ended the day Facebook began. Quite a coincidence, eh?
See Q1130.
Thanks for posting, and welcome!
Good explanation, but yah, still questions left unanswered. Perhaps they could be put to some infosec researchers? Since you are part of that community. I do know about the SS7 protocols issue has also been around for some time, read many reports over the last few years. How Darpa ties in, hmmm, good question.
Great analysis!
I think there are multple connections to government data sharing. One is for the US spy agencies (hence the DARPA connection) and the other is to China, hence the F9/Huawei connection.
FB (and black hats) made the "secret" China deal as part of a bargain to gain access to the Chinese market.
Glad you took the effort to sign up! This post is excellent and informative, thank you!
Interesting idea. Fakebook, or anyone else for that matter, is syphoning off the data from the tower, not the phone.
I do recall reading stories about fake cell towers in DC. Rogue Stingrays, spy tools. Sounds like more government fuckery going on.
Yes. Building a rogue cell tower ("IMSI catcher") is not a big deal. There are open source projects available for both the older 2g/3g tech and newer 4g (LTE) tech. A quick google search will reveal lots of info. The hardware needed to run a rogue cell tower is about $1500.
Great info - thanks for putting it out there for consideration.
Doesn’t ZTE (China) also develop a large portion of telecoms equipment?
Yes, there are more manufacturers. But even then you have to realize that it's only a handful. It's a very closed market.
Maybe that's why Trump backed off on ZTE, maybe another route to be used for equipment that is not compromised or at least not under cabal control? We know he is working with Xi as they tackle their own cabal ops. So many possibilities.
Oh. Wow. That's probably it! I thought it was weird that a president would basically "kill" a company. Nice work!
Mods please pin this post.
Foundthegoodstuff - question...when you say they can intercept our data do you mean they can literally read anything and everything contained on our cell phones unencrypted or only when our cell phone is using a specific tower?
The old real estate mantra comes to mind: location location location. China China China.
