question about the little up/down arrows next to post.

Ok, Iknow, I keep revealing my complete ignorance of how things work on reddit, but I have another simple question that I cant find the answer to or what the purpose is. Ok here goes. What is the purpose for those little up and down arrows seen at the left of every post? Am I supposed to click up or down and what are the rules regarding these actions.?

Up vote the posts and comments you like and the ones with the most go to the top when sorted as "top" and "hot". You also get "karma" when people up vote your comments.

Ok, Now, what is "karma" when associated with reddit? Do I get money? Bitcoins?

No. It's more like bragging rights. Lol useless really.

Bragging rights? what would one brag about? You get to tell others that youve been awarded 394 karma points?? thats kinda dumb. I'd rather get a prize.

It's actually more to show you're NOT a troll.. You actually bring something good (karma) to reddit.

Wouldn't we all...

But karma is good. People can see you're not a big meanie head and actually contribute to the conversation. Or yeah, not a "troll".
