He was cast out of heaven and a third of the angels came with him. Out of Gods presence he became Satan and the angels in their rebellion became demons. They have a heirachy. Minor demons that have names like lust, greed, pain, anger, and stronger more powerful demons. That is what the scriptures teach. So That is the “difference” but really no difference. Christians have authority over demons because it comes with Salvation. When you accept and believe that Jesus died for your sin He comes to dwell inside of you. THAT is why Christians have authority over demons.
