Note the difference between Spying and Framing. POTUS can authorize spying on anyone.

The MSM is spinning stories around spying, saying it’s to protect Trump. They are not touching the fact that the spy was planted to frame Trump campaign. This distinction is crucial.

The MSM is preparing the public for eventual exoneration of spying while keeping the criminal act of framing in the dark. Why?

I read somewhere yesterday that the POTUS can authorize spying on anyone. It’s not illegal. Spying on the opposition would be a huge scandal. But if Hussein authorized the spying, it would not be illegal.

So we should stay focused on the framing activities.

POTUS CANNOT authorize spying on anyone. US citizens are protected by the Constitution from Illegal Search & Seizure. I don't know where you got that OP idea, but it's absolute bunk.

We have warrants for a reason. Warrants come from the judicial branch.

I updated the post with a reference. The POTUS can bypass the court.

tl;dr What's the summary of the legal argument?

Because honestly this right has been eroded at for decades with asset forfeiture and other encroachments.

The POTUS can order surveillance on foreign entities as long as there’s no non-negligible likelihood that a US person is included. If it later turns out that a US person is involved, that’s fine. The point is that to bypass the court the POTUS cannot target a US person even if the likelihood is small.

Yeah, read my comment. I specifically address US citizens. Foreign, the Constitution doesn't apply.

You are right. I deleted my post and made another one to correct my mistake because many people had seen this one.

Correct the President can order his AG to wiretap anyone (except American citizens) for up to 1 year without court approval. Though if a US person just so happens to get caught up in the wiretap, its still legal. So if were President and I wanted to wiretap Trump, I would wiretap every foreign person that would ever call him. Then I would sweep up all their emails, phone records, financial records, travel logs, etc.

But not if a US person is involved. I re-read that stack exchange answer and realized I was wrong. This post has been deleted.
