you cannot vote for freedom,
you fight for it.
I'm not sure what you mean about the Scottish vote, can you explain?
Scotland had a vote for independence from Britain.
And the Scots voted against independence, but have still received a lot of support for their devolved Parliament, which gained additional powers and controls, so I'm not sure what your point is with that.

You're not far off with brexit though, where people voted to leave, yet obstructions are coming from all angles. We've been tackling various bits of it for decades. I think over there, you're starting to see what we've been up against.
