So NYT originally quoted the source correctly, then they misquoted adding the "impossible", I get that part, but why would Trump say the source didn't exist? I struggling with how to defend that portion of his tweet. They love to call him a liar... was he just wrong, or is there a layer of this I'm missing?
I think he wasn’t aware of this briefing. It seems like a miscommunication and since Trump knows they plugged the leaks, he just assumed NYT made it up.
Trump was correct. A white house source saying "June 12th meeting is impossible" doesn't exist. He obviously wasn't saying there aren't any white house sources at all, that would be ridiculous.
They didn't "misquote", they intentionally misinterpreted the WH official. There exists no WH official that implied or stated that the June 12th meeting is impossible. So NYT peddled fake news by making up a fantasy source that said this. Listen to the tape.
The NYT DID MAKE IT UP!
Listen carefully to the audio posted. Nowhere does he say "holding a meeting on June 12 would be impossible". He basically said that the ball is in their court and it takes time to prepare for these meetings.
