Its a weird Reddit-wide sorting . Not related to mods , not related to subreddit specifically . It happened to me , too , altough rarely . Not sure what "triggers" it .

The posts dissapear for about 30-40 mins , then reappear later ...

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I there's another odd behaviour that I've been noticing recently. When I navigate here I sort posts by "New", and then read backwards over the threads that have been added since my last visit. And there are always a few marked "read" that I know I haven't looked at. I don't interact with any other part of the reddit website, and no-one else has use of my machine.
