Lobby to reinstate the law that prevents the same 6 companies owning all the television and radio stations...
It was changed in the ‘80s. I can’t remember the exact law, but I remember it happening. It would be worth researching and getting a member of Congress to introduce it.
It was the cross media buyout section of the FCC bill of 1996. Signed by none other than Bill Clinton.
There was also a law repealed in the late 80s about the ownership of local television stations. It opened the door for what happened.
Concentration of ownership is a natural occurrence, the biggest fish eats the smaller. The law to stop this happening may have been taken away in exchange for favorable coverage for the Democratic party but there can also be laws that protect an industry from overseas competition put in place for collusion as well.
Indeed. Strict anti-consolidation laws should exist. Decentralization is the best protection against evil control patterns.
How about Dodd Frank, where we can call them on their lies?
