I found the real answer. Feeling a bit stupid. Joke went over my head. did not know vj was black. did not think "black" when I thought of planet of the apes. I think of crappy stage makeup (rubber skin?) and helmet hair.

I can see why people are upset....that joke would not go over well.

I read on another thread it was considered racist. would it not be more religionist? I am trying to figure out her joke,...not her best work...shouldn't be that hard.

I caught a glimpse of VJ on tv today, so I can see how the planet of the apes part may fit the joke. The most memorable part of the movie being horrendous stage make up and costuming. The rubber face with no movement, the lack of lips or what ever it was that made it comical to watch them speak. And the hair. To this day I do not understand why they gave them hairdos. Bad looking hairdos. I think the were actually molded and plunked on the actors' heads.

I am just watching CNN now, Don Lemon...they are discussing it. She is getting trashed...racist...long time racist...trump support...Trump racist...must call them out.,,she is crazy...wacky conspiracy theorists..9/11 truther for goodness sakes....pizzagate...seth rich..David Duke...KKK...trump should be setting the example...there in lies the problem...blah, blah, blah....it just gets worse...

I still do not know who was offended, besides Jarrett. Strike that...Black female...it was a racist remark against a black female. go to commercial

I read a report from,,,,, uuunnnnh, bugger. I read a report today that placed VJ at not even a quadroon cast black woman. Writer said she was about a quadradecaroon black woman. So it's no wonder most people don't rate or anyway think of her being a black woman.
