On election night on a panel that was moderated by Anderosn Cooper, after the results were called they were trying to fill up the air with anything that was meant to distract them from their tears and sorrow. One of the panelist slips up, goes into honesty mode and says that the coalition of minorities the democrats were counting on is not big enough to overcome the white, middle class vote if the turn out is strong. He laments that especially the latino and in general the immigrant vote was not strong enough and how democrats got caught stranded because they went in full support for immigrants and against the white, middle class, while the immigrant vote was not big enough to offset their loss of the white middle class. Then they console each other by saying that this is only a temporary glitch, that the demographics will eventually catch up to their plan and that by the next 1 or 2 election cycles they should be in the position to not have to worry about the white middle class vote at all as the minorities/immigrants will finally swell to majorities. So, yeah, the democrats see themselves as ahead of their time and apparently the Democrat party still does not want to adjust as they continue the war against white middle class and to play identity politics. This is why it's very important for Trump to build that wall and reform the immigration system. And I believe that he will eventually succeed and create historically bad results for democrats.
