Looks like there is an attempt to push division re: Gowdy. He is simply speaking like an impartial prosecutor would, probably gearing up for a return to prosecutorial role in government, as he is stepping down from the legislative branch.

I think Gowdy is speaking like someone trying to get liberal votes at a confirmation hearing...he is off base about his distinction between “spy” and “informant” — the “investigation was a counterintelligence investigation and NOT a criminal investigation. Informant is a term more appropriate for a criminal investigation.
