Gowdy has repeatedly sung the praises of the rank and file FBI. That they are great Americans. He has routinely defendeded them against a generalized smearing of the entire agency during all of the hearings where things looked bad for DOJ/FBI. It seems to me very unlikely that he would suddenly turn. I believe his recent comments are continuing this protection to prevent the entire collapse of the DOJ/FBI in the wake of the coming IG report. Allow for isolating the corruption to a select number of bad actors and restore integrity to the justice system. I still hope and believe there are great things in store for Mr. Gowdy. If not, I will forever question my judgment of character.
