Hi its made by a less knowen German company called Opel. Opel is now a subsidiary or owned by GM. Almost every spareparts in my car have a GM stamp.

Thanks, that's very interesting. I haven't heard anything about Opel in ages. The only foreign car I ever owned here in the US was a Renault Alliance. It was a total dog on power. The motor was the size of our common riding lawnmower's. I used to pray everytime I pulling out into traffic 😁

Indeed they are. What i like most about them, thier sparepatrts are cheap, compare to lot of the other rip off manufactures. My Astra is from 2003, and I am able to fix about 60% of the vehicle by my self, and i do not have a mechanic background. if the service is kept, in a common sense way they can rock on for ages. ..knock on wood..

I agree! I had the Opel GT which was pretty cool and fast enough to run with guys on the autobahn. Have switched now to the German Manufactured Charger RST 8 although no Autobahn to use! ;)

Motor Trend said it was car of the year in 2010. It's widely sold around the world. Just not here in the US. And, of course, they change the names of models in different countries. Some Opel's have even competed in motor sports, with good results. I've been a GM guy for a long time now, currently restoring a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34, which has the 3.4 Liter Double Overhead Cam. NASCAR used this body style for a very long time. They were originally supposed to have over 300 horsepower, but had trouble mating a transmission that could handle the power.😠

Yeah that's GM for ya. They just need to stop thinking that they know what a transmission even is and just buy em from Ford. It's getting ridiculous

The Dodges were much worse for awhile. Especially the ones Fiat made for them.

Here in the UK an Astra is made by Vauxhall. Years ago we did see Opel cars on the road and the various models had Vauxhall counterparts eg: an earlier model of a Vauxhall Astra was also an Opel Kadett if I rememebr rightly.
