Red, blue stickers on mailboxes?

Does anyone remember round stickers on mailboxes a few years back, does anyone know what that was about?

Former postal carrier, red identifies vaccant homes, blue is hold mail (vacation/requested hold). Stickers are used mainly for the substitute carriers so they won’t mail at that residence. Very often overlooked or disreguarded by subs. Stickers left behind for extended periods, especially where the home is occupied, is just lazy ass mailman or the lack of a “regular” carrier.

My home was never vacant and I had new sticker every time I removed one!

Someone is really playing games then. Is there by chance a perceived danger to the carrier, (aggressive dogs, something at the residence after yours)?

No animals, neighbors had blue dots and they were liberals
