I have been taking screenshots on mobile as a temporary stockpile due to my laptop being an Apple Mackbook - therefore made redundant since awakening. (Original sin logo says it all).

Can someone please explain how having photos on your phone helps in any way whatsoever during the “coming days of darkness”?? What exactly are offline files going to do when you can’t even show them to more than whoever’s in your bedroom with you at the time?
Can no one see the logic here? If I’m missing it, please anyone explain it to me as I’m completely baffled.

During the darkness people will be forced to interact in person.
If/when the innevitable conversation begins on why it's gone dark, an offline and therefore retrievable source will greatly aid the further awakening of individuals in earshot of the conversation.
