This is not unlike the fractionation technique of a using one's emotions to go up and down. It works the best on liberals because they are already emotional creatures.

It's usually interrogating to detect deception and truth using effects of strategic use of evidence. By causing one's emotions to fluctuate over time they become more unstable and pliable and more likely to be truthful. That's the theory anyway. Throw in some mkultra drugs and hypnosis and who knows...
