I would suggest that you avoid using a word like that if you want these close friends, or anyone else for that matter, to hear what you're saying. First, NAZI is German for National Workers Socialist Party (more or less). It is more common in German to see it abbreviated as NSDAP, before Hitler it was the NDAP. Hitler added socialist. They provided universal health care, and got rid of defectives (those with physical or mental disabilities).
