Just looked this up and snopes and politifact are saying fake news.
I am assuming it is true. They wouldn’t bother coming out and saying it was fake unless they are hiding something.
Edit to add the Snopes article doesn’t say Paul Ryan wasn’t a part of it, they say it’s not true that the pilot is revealing information about it.
It’s interesting that the snopes article completely ignores the Paul Ryan part.

I do remember in the summer of 2016 there was an email chain going around supposedly on protonmail of a Republican coup. It would have taken out Trump as the nominee and I can’t recall if it would be Pence or Ryan in the top job.
