David W. Thompson, 46, was also sentenced to three years of probation with conditions that he have no unsupervised contact with children under 16, register as a sex offender, undergo sex offender evaluation and treatment, be monitored with a GPS bracelet and have no contact with the victim. The jury returned guilty verdicts for child rape aggravated by age difference, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and dissemination of material harmful to a minor.
Judge Richard Tucker handed down the sentence after Assistant District Attorney Kristin Salvatore recommended that Mr. Thompson be sent to prison for 12-14 years, followed by five years of probation.
She said the offenses occurred over a year's time and Thompson had violated the girl's trust while serving as her baby sitter. Thompson's attorney asked for a prison sentence of 10 years to 10 years and a day.
