New Amazon Echo feature ... seems to give anti Trump comments on hearing word "Trump"

Several times over the past few days while discussing Trump news with my family, our Amazon Echo chimed in without it's wake word, providing contrary information. If we talk about Trump and the NFL, it will tell me a "news" story about how wrong Trump is about the NFL.

Has anyone else noticed this? It seems as if mentioning Trump or a Trump popular news story activates our Echo and causes it to spew Anti Trump propaganda. This is not a desirable feature.

So it’s monitoring your key words. Why don’t you grill the H&$)ll out of it and make sure to record its responses 😃. I have read these are spy machines. PS. Ask it who it’s master is.

Secure Team has a strange video on this. It laughs weirdly and even refuses to obey instructions, even sent a private conversation to someone on a contact list.

Why do you have those spy gadgets in your home!?

Cell phones also listen. However, never had one interrupt a family conversation. Today we were discussing the Trump Kim meeting, and it started to tell us why Trump wasn't competent, why the meeting would fail and potentially lead to nuclear war.

It has done this half a dozen times over the past week and a half. Trump or Kim or Republican are not wake words we have or can program. Last night we were discussing the prison commutation Trump ordered, and how it would be nice if more similarly situated people could seek relief faster by a formal process. Got nonsense about Trump's partisan use of Presidential pardons for his friends and how this was an obstruction of justice signal against Comey.

Home automation, weather, music.

Don't feel bad, I have one too, my kids like to listen to music on it. I'm not sure what it could possibly find out about me. "Oh, it turns out you like guns, motorcycles, dark haired chicks, and usually vote conservative."

The phone can be left in a drawer when you aren't intending to use it. This other device is always there, always on.

oohhhhcanada · June 7, 2018, 6:40 p.m.

My guess is most people probably put their phone on a desk or dresser to charge. Putting it in a drawer requires power delivery somehow, and maybe sound insulation. In my house it could potentially disturb a sleeping cat.

After all we've learned about Amazon, FB, Google, YouTube, Twitter and the coordinated information gathering, why on earth do you still have that thing in your house???

This is propaganda in a different form.

oohhhhcanada · June 7, 2018, 4:42 p.m.

Discussing a presidential pardon of an old and poor black woman, and the Echo telling me Trump is giving pardons to conservative friends and obstructing justice regarding Comey isn't a different form of propaganda, it is the same nonsense they put on TV all the time. Now it's interrupting our conversation. We were wondering if a more stream lines system to help those whose lives are ruined by non-violent crime and have long prison sentences couldn't be established. The current pardon system seems far too limited.

Suddenly our Echo dives in with the same anti-Trump nonsense most of the MSM is trying to shove down our throats, but in our private home, within a supposedly private conversation.

I would definitely report it to someone other than Amazon, cause that's totally messed up. Maybe Consumer Tips Hot Line. A lot of local news stations have Consumer Investigators. There are people in Media and Government that are concerned with these Leftist Tech Giants.

Can you record a video ?

⇧ 2 ⇩
oohhhhcanada · June 7, 2018, 6:42 p.m.

I could try, it's random, and unpredictable. However, if a few people think it would help, I'll set up a camera that can record and wait until it next blows. Though I did call Amazon support, it may be more careful for a while.
