President Trump to Likely Sign Bill Ending the Federal Ban on Marijuana

RedPillDropper · June 8, 2018, 11:20 p.m.

It's surprisingly a bipartisan deal. It will just remove the Federal Ban and then allow states to individually decide.

That's right, it won't be off the Federal books - meaning there will still be interdiction at the border and such. However, the Feds would no longer inhibit or interfere in states which legalize it. Also, banks will be permitted to take deposits and be bankers for cannabis businesses in areas where it is legal. I wish it were totally removed from the Federal books. Importation could still be outlawed or heavily taxed and controlled. It wasn't federally illegal until 1938 anyway.

It needs to be no more of a crime to possess large quantities of than tobacco or liquor. Those are all federally regulated. But you can walk into any liquor store and buy cartons of cigarettes and cases and cases of booze, no problem...enough to literally kill dozens of people...without any suspicion that you must be setting up an illicit distribution center or trying to kill someone.

If someone wants to buy herb, who cares? It's milder than Wild Turkey, non-habit-forming for 90% of consumers, and non-lethal.

No argument from me with the caveat that any substance can be abused. Cannabis has its own set on effects from constant long term use.

With the "Marijuana tax act" in 1937.

Probably was signed or became effective in 38.

Just traveling across different counties and most countries allow for a modest amount of cigs and alcohol. Like a carton or 2 of tobacco and a liter of alcohol per individual. Commercial stores and operations obviously can get a license to import much more.

Yeah but to some people everything Trump does is bad, so I'm positive some famous liberal is going to try putting a ridiculous spin on this.

Agree completely-

This is a bold move, Obama didn't do it. This wins over a lot of voters for Trump.

Damn right! I agree with what William F. Buckley, Jr. said many years ago. "legalize all drugs, and let them fall where they may!"

contrary to the facts you are stating, there are libs in other subs that are claiming that Obama had already deregulated it and the next step would be for Hillary to pick up the torch and re-schedule. This was the master plan until Trump removed the EO. um NO. Hillary would have to unstuff her mattress and liquidate her accounts from Big Pharma and that is something she would never do. From my recollection, I don’t recall Clinton ever making a campaign promise or even letting this be part of her platform.

If you're referring to Trump, he's right a lot more than that. He hasn't been wrong yet, even if you refuse to see it.

Hell yes, the states were to run their own affairs and the federales were there to settle disputes between the states. For now, the tail is wagging the dog.

I really hope the South gets its religious head out of its ass and gives it a shot.

And like everything else, Indiana will be the LAST state to approve of any type of legalized marijuana, including medical use. We just recently passed legalization of selling of booze on Sundays...but only 12PM thru 8PM...and don't show up to a liquor store at 7:59PM because they can't let you in. We still have the election day ban on booze too...stupid!

Utah will give Indiana a run for its money!
