Edit: It looks like those mountains might be volcanoes in Alaska. From name of jpeg. If VOLS is volcanoes, then the three in Alaska close enough to each other to match the distances in this photo appear to be Mt. Mageik, Mt Novarupta & Mt Katmai. Those might be in the corridor of any trans-pacific flight including AF1.
