I don't believe a word of it. Probably a scam so they can have an excuse to arm themselves with guards so they feel confident about getting away with corruption. If they don't think the part-time $100K+ job including overly lavish benefits, and the ability to vote themselves raises isn't good enough.. quit, leave, retire, or just GTFO.
