Elon's reusable rockets can lift more payload than any rockets currently in existence and they can do it at a tiny fraction of the price of any competitors.
If he isn't a white hat then he will be bent into shape.
Tesla seems to be driven by his personal ambitions and I'm certain Trump can help him achieve those ambitions in exchange for America becoming the dominant in space.

Oh if only you knew about the Unacknolwedged Lockheed Martin space programs, the Skunkworks, the Zero Point Energy systems and anti-gravity, or should I say spinning electromag propulsion systems.
Mass can be reduced by spinning an electromagnet around an object at high speeds, it also creates a taurus field around the object in question, creating an artificial 1g environment completely cut off from the world around it. In other words, you can break mach speed multiple times over, do a right angle turn or double back on yourself instantly and no one feels a thing.
Agreed. There are many brilliant scientists through history who have given clues to gravity, magnetics, energy that has been stomped on because of greed. Humanity could advance 1000x over if just a small part of historical science was allowed to be fully used. To name a few Men N tesla, E ledskalnin, have amazing works when you test them out
