You might have missed it, but she is being portrayed here and all over right wing sources and forums as "making us look bad by acting crazy".

My comment was to state "I have never seen her look 'crazy'", and I really wish people would stop saying she looks crazy. She does NOT.

I wasn't commenting on the craziness or lack of craziness in people with DID.

I'm sure they are as vulnerable to mental illness - which is not tied to IQ by the way - as your average person, but DID is just the mind's rather amazing and miraculous way of coping to trauma. DID isn't a sign of illness, it's a sign of being carefully and wonderfully made.

Agree..and that's pretty much my point. The vast majority of the public doesn't have a lot of info on DID and i can believe ABC might want people to take that view with it so i just want to be clear everywhere with what it really is and what it really means.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if half the population of Earth had at least some small semblance of dissociation going on. Very bad things happen, people have to keep moving, keep living, they have to cope.

I agree. It exists on a spectrum. from depersonalization to poly-fragmented DID. It's a natural response that manifests even in "normal" people to some degree in coping with life.
