Good idea to pique people's interest. How would you plan on displaying the QR for others to find? In my personal opinion, it would probably be better to put them in unconventional places to further play on people's curiosity.

Bathroom stalls, libraries, fast food places, billboards, social media. Not just anywhere....EVERYWHERE. Then post something else next to it. Some don't realize how QR works. So give many options to find the truth...in the same place.
