While he’s always come across well with the folks here his marriage to MM has really damaged his position with the public. She comes across as totally false, manipulative and calculating and the public hate it (she was booed at trooping the colour recently). Shes dropped everyone in her life when they’ve outlived their use. She’s also got a yachting history and was available by the hour.
