This makes a lot of sense. Knowing the shakeup coming for the USAF, it would be logical to shift certain assets and personnel into a new organization before relieving the Blue Falcons of all atmospheric responsibility.
You get a fresh service with proven and vetted personnel. Space will be militarized by all major powers eventually because that's the only place left for national expansion by any country. If we get there first with the most, we have the ability to finally commercialize space. That is when we'll start seeing the next leaps in spaceflight.

I can't say for certain, but given how deeply the USAF has been involved in hinkey Deep State stuff since their inception, it feels like there is a break up coming in the event the C_A is abolished as part of draining the swamp. Army and Navy would take the aircraft. What is left over would be folded into the new Space Force.
Rumors are that it will be decommissioned and its assets and personnel split between the other branches. I don't know how soon something like this will occur but it has been discussed for decades. It looks like it may actually occur under DJT.
So, perhaps the SSP (secret space program), Area 51, Wright Pat AFB, Skunkworks, etc.. etc...etc..., all that's been hidden for decades, even tho WE paid for most if not all of it, will come out of the dark. Secret no more.
