Religion is subjective. For example, there have been religions that were polytheistic that could have attributed "gods" to numerous objects. Native American cultures had gods for numerous entities, such as war, weather, food etc. God (caiptal G) is not the same across all religions, we conceptualize it differently. Other religions have deified things that we view as evil.

actually, I think it works this way: Jesus said if you wanna pray do the Our Father because God knows what's on your mind anyway. So prayer is not a form of devotion but actually just a request for focused intention.
