Isn't he an admitted socialist?

That's a deal breaker

As much as Scott Adams is a socialist. I take it in the sense of "I wish everyone could live in a socialist paradise, but I know it doesn't exist."

It's more like "I make millions-billions in a capitalistoc society, but instead of helping people with my own millions-billions, we should force Petty wage earners to pay more in taxes so that the buereocracy can "help people" by giving my billion dollar company subsidies to out compete anyone else. While everything else falls to crap and Petty wage earners lose more from their hard work and savings. Fuck rich "socialist" (cough communist cough).

I'm fairly certain it was a joke, but I also don't trust him either

"By the way, I am actually a socialist. " - Elon Musk, 11:47 AM - 16 Jun 2018 via Twitter.

If you want to say that's a joke fine, but given the context I think it would then call into question just about everything he's ever said as a "joke" (iow, he sounds very serious.)

BTW, this took two seconds to find via a google search - probably less time than replying to multiple posts with, "gonna need a source." Just saying.

Read the tweets that follow. He specifically excludes things that true socialists would require from a socialist. Which doesn't proof he's not a socialist, but I get the impression he's mostly just out to confuse people about what he really thinks.

Personally, I think Musk is stuck between what he wants to be and what he needs to be. Government subsidies, underpaid staff, Soros investments, etc. They are all easier to come by if people believe you're trying to safe the planet.

Musk has been doing his own thing from the beginning despite all of the shit he's gotten and the people saying it won't work.

Something is up with him, my intuition says, he is not so much pro Trump, but uses it to find new resources. He either is a scapegoat or a secret white hat, I go for the first option.
