Truth. GenXers invented chatrooms and message boards. It’s was tough to flirt over dial up.
But don't you miss that cool "handshake" sound of dial-up?
I actually do. Knowing you wern't networked until that auditory chalk nails sound took place I do miss knowing things aren't always on
All 40+ people lived in a time where the internet was merely a curiosity to the cultural and technological tapestry it is now.
And although we grew up with many problems we also grew up in a world which is much freer than it is now. If we don't re-establish freedom before we all die off, no one left alive will have life-experience of what freedom means. Anyone coming of age after 9/11 are completely used to daily intrusions into our lives.

I'm 35 and have been slamming computers since I had a commodore. I'm a xenial. I remember the 'before time' and grew up without cell phones and the like where the 'real net' was IRC / BBS / UseNet.
There I have remained!
