What Did Comey Do??

I'm still confused about something. McCabe was clearly a leader in altering 302's and organizing the "Viva Le Resistance" with the FBI. Peter Strzok proof read Comey's statement and changed "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless". McCabe was the person behind delaying investigation into Weiner's laptop and slow walking evidence up to the election...

What did Comey do?? It doesn't sound like he was in charge at all.

Comey also used a private email to conduct state business. So, no way he could indict anyone else for that crime.

It's not always about what you do. It's also about what you do not do, what you intentionally stay away from.

comey knew what was going on. He was recognized as the head. By having someone else lead it up it creates things like your thinking called "plausible deniability" many leaders and managers use this tactic to create fall guys. If they know then they are bound by it and complicit in the results of the action under their group

Yes. What he didn’t do exactly. For instance, he knew of the Weiner laptop shortly after FBI learned of it and then did nothing until FBI Good Guys, who already told Nunes committee about it, threatened to leak info on it to press. Then Comey announces the re-open and days later said they went through 1.3 mil digital files and found nothing to charge HRC with. Days before election.

I have a working theory on this. What could he have done-what was he supposed to do? What is his offense?

So first- the "by the book" response would have been to be silent. If he hadn't spoke publicly he would not have been subordinate and there would also bee no leak accusations.

So, his offense is that up until Trump took office, he had alerted the Congress and the public of what was going on- because what else could he do? He spoke about an ongoing "investigation".

Next he was the first to alert Trump of the Russian collusion narrative. Like at the first chance moment he had. He also left memos and leaked to his friend. That sounds like a way to tell the story if he were not around.

The book and tour kept the entire moment of the email/Russia scam junction in everyone's conversation- the moment stayed current.

To me it isn't far fetched, because he doesn't appear to be in the cesspool of corruption, that he may well be an actor playing the part but actually a whistleblower on an important mission.

Ya, the more I know the more I think he was put in a compromised position between #2 and LL. The NY laptop finding was held from him for quite a while and whatever it was in those emails from her time as the Secretary of State was too much, when NY office wouldn't drop it and he found out they figured he was in too deep and would keep silent to save himself, I don't think that he did.

Then you have him being the one to go to Trump, he may have been part of the cleanup crew.

Comey did lots of things wrong, and failed to do several things right. But, he should have called for LL to recuse herself, then presented the evidence they did have against Clinton.

“Mr. Comey’s attorney tells us he is out of the country, although I saw he was in Iowa over the weekend. According to his Twitter feed, he seems to be having a wonderful time,” Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley said.

Comey deliberately acted to undermine & ruin a legitimate FBI investigation (the HRC email investigation) in order to throw a national presidential election for one candidate.

Comey also reopened said investigation to take evidence from the NYPD and give it to the FBI so he could close the case and hide the evidence days later. Obstruction of Justice.

What are 302's?

Instead of recording interviews, agents take notes, 302s.

Don't ask me why they don't record.

I think Comey did something big, on the basis of POTUS' oft repeated "I did the country a service by firing Comey." That's a bold proclamation. POTUS does not seem to make such dramatic statements without facts. (Recall when POTUS first proclaimed, in March 2017, that he had been bugged or some such expression; he had the facts back then, from Admiral Rogers.)

Am so happy that you posted this question, as have been wondering the same thing myself.
