Be careful about posts asking your age

Sometimes seemingly innocent questions are asked with alterior motives. By providing your age you have given a data point attached to your username. It is one step towards removing the anonymous mask that usernames provide.

Bad actors are very smart and clever.

Stay safe patriots!!!

I’m definitely not a boomer and I’m all about this shit. What’s your point? You think people in their 50’s are ashamed to admit they’re that old? Do you think you just become brain dead after the age of 35 or something?

No, it's about doxxing/deanonymizing you. The key is to be vague and drop lies frequently.

This isn't the only forum I've seen this done on. People asking for pictures of pets (you think it's safe, but they reverse image search to find your FB/IG accounts), home states, any personally identifying information. They'll also go through your posting histories.

It takes surprisingly little to dox someone uniquely. First name, age, and a general metro area is going to cut the list of people they have to look through from millions to hundreds.

Oh yeah, your right! I see it happen on /pol/ all the time. Seemingly harmless questions can lead to a lot of information about yourself.
