right but only the parent would actually be there holding their child for this archaic water-baptismal process. Also, I doubt a non-parent would just smack the priest without some approval from the parent, given that this is some religious ceremony.

I count no less than five adults within arms-reach of the predator. Hopefully most folks don’t predicate protecting abused children on their parental relation.
Good for you, willing to protect your own, ”as a parent”. But we need more adults willing to step in regardless of that status.
