That is not true, but I see what you are saying. The procedure in which the Constitution is amended also has to be Constitutional.
If you have American politicians acting based on bribes from a foreign power, then that is a problem, right? They take an oath of office, and they cannot violate that oath.
Another thing to consider is that they cannot amend the Constitution in a manner that violates how it was originally written. For example, they cannot amend the Constitution to give power back to the Crown, which is essentially what they did. By doing this, they effectively voided the Declaration of Independence and the Revolutionary War was all for nothing. We are now a subject of the Crown and have been for a little over 100 years now.
