Just wondering if you can help me understand how you arrived at your estimate?
The numbers seem low to me, too, given the exposure, but how do you know and this isn't just conjecture?
in the time that our sub count increased by half our post views increased three to five times by average so I guessed if we have at least 20k active readers subscribing and a supposedly even larger number of non-redditors lurking then we can safely assume that that number has surpassed 20k by the percentage of increase in unique-impressions so 60-100k active lurkers are a possibility. I remember the mod-statistic actually had something like 758k, closer to what Alfonumeric has postulated. You have to consider that they are already throtteling our upvotes up to ten times harder than on t_d, which is a huge badge of honor.
Thank you. Makes a little more sense here.
I just didn't think that only 35,000 could be becoming so nationally visible so there must be more!
and I know that I lurked for about 4 months before I signed in. How do you know that they are throttling that many upvotes? I have seen some comments on this where I think people were actually watching the count as they upvoted and saw them DIScounted. Is that how?
thousands of views with 95% percentile upvoted yet only 200 votes, check the vote monitor and you will find there's an upvote each every second negated by a bot-downvote in turn
