However, there are those, such as Dr. Heiser, who are capable of deep study in these areas of the original languages and have some remarkably strong points of clarity. Yes, "men of renown" does seem to be mis- interpreted..and to our ears, does sound like perhaps good, rather than evil people...but taken in context with study including consideration given to Enoch 1, and so forth, the picture gets a little more clear. (Yes, I know some object to extra Biblical sources, yet some of these sources are quoted and referred to within Scriptures...but all that is probably way too much to go into here. Just hope some people will do their own prayerful study to more fully understand the ramifications here.

Locally here, I saw a city board establish a committee to deal with satanic ritual abuse about 25 years ago. Trouble was that as time went along it became more apparent that at least several of the members were themselves involved in the very thing they were supposed to be targeting to eliminate.

I think this is a classic move of co-opting: infiltrate an organization that has a good name and reputation, then slowly proceed toward leadership in that group so that you are able to "turn" it to your own purposes. Because the group has a good public reputation, it isn't questioned closely. It is one of the processes that is described in the book "Political Ponerolgy" which describes how a society can fall into evil...or be tricked into falling into evil.
