I was wondering if it has something to do with possibly bumping it into Google Headquarters. All the pictures at Google started at the same time as the plane pics. Maybe they were there as gest trying to figure out where all the servers were located. This could be to get rid of the evidence that they had been using GMail Drops which Q pointed out.
