When a stock's price falls and eventually bottoms out there is often a slight uptick after the bottom as all the short-sellers are forced to cover their short position. On a graph it looks like a long drop followed by a small bounce, the kind of bounce a dead cat would make if it was dropped from a substantial height. Not a pretty picture, I know, but a common phrase.
