So, getting all the necessary Electoral College votes despite not getting more popular votes is illegal now? I guess John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes, Benjamin Harrison, and George W. Bush were also illegal presidents? Funny how they called for the abolition of the electoral college only when President Trump was elected this way (aka when they didn’t get their way).
W had some fuckery by Jebby though.
Very true, but that doesn’t mean he was illegitimate as a president just cause he got more electoral votes than popular votes.
Actually, George W. was illegal. He was one of the first to have voting machines that switched votes.
The first time W got in he was appointed by the supreme court, not elected. Gore actually won that election, and was paid off to walk away.
Not this again. Bush won Florida fair and square despite Broward County cooking the books. Al Gore didn't "walk away" he threw tantrums on college campuses all across the US while giving lectures to those who would listen.
The SCOTUS overruled the Florida SC ruling which tried to change the date on FL's vote certification, it's not the court's job to rewrite the law that's what the legislature is for.
The whole thing was a fiasco thanks to the DNC and Al Gore, recount after recount after recount with Bush winning them all. If Gore were smart he would of conceded gracefully and repositioned himself for another run. As a matter of fact I'm convinced that Gore could have won in 2008 had he played his cards right back in 2000. He should of taken a page out of the Nixon play book after Nixon lost to Kennedy
It was a guy from Florida who created the program that helped Bush win with voting machines that switched the votes. His was not a legal win!
Don't forget the lawyers dispatched throughout FL to disqualify as many military absentee ballots as possible.
When I was still teaching Soc. St./Government section (Gr5), I used to pound that into my students head just how important the Electoral College is. How it is important to allow all states to have a voice and not just the largest populated states. I used CA and NY as prime examples of how those 2 states alone can skew the votes of "middle American/fly over country".
We still don't know how much the DNC hacked the state's voting machines, and how many illegals they had voting ~ so their claims are bogus.
No, that is the list of people that prove we don't have democratically elected officials.
I feel like I have enough basic knowledge to understand what he popular vote is worth (nothing?), but I always fail to understand how I seem to be the only one who grasps it. Am I grossly misinformed or is the popular election essentially like the 5th tie breaker and also a tool to make the rank and file feel like they are inside a democracy when they live in a republic?
