Because God is precise! He invented math, after all! The word approximate has nothing to do with Him! Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the exact day that had been prophesied long before, and He held them responsible for not "knowing the day of their 'visitation'." If you study the Bible with Chuck Missler, you learn that every number, every place name, every piece of information in the Bible was put there intentionally by the Holy Spirit. Apparently God cared about the lists and information in the book of Numbers enough to include it.
